Thematic Networking update

IICD's latest thematic publication is the booklet on ICTs for agricultural livelihoods: Impact and lessons learned from IICD supported activities. The projects described in this booklet were carried out by IICD and its partners over a six-year period and provide examples of the many ways in which ICTs contribute to poverty alleviation in the agriculture sector.

In line with the refined 'Strategy Paper Thematic Networking 2004 – 2006’, Thematic Networking is focusing on three major activities. First of all, it is assisting in making IICD’s project partners more successful by organising cross country exchanges. Secondly, TN will engage in activities that will bring out, or harvest, the lessons learned from IICD projects in implementation and that will allow IICD to advocate for the use of ICTs as tools for development in different sectors. Thirdly, the network of organisations that can assist IICD in achieving its mission and methodology will be further developed.

Thematic Networking works theme by theme. Currently, the themes Livelihoods, Education and Rural Access (connectivity) are going through a TN cycle. Several other themes will be started up shortly. A cycle exists of an impact study, a Cross Country Learning Event (CCLE) including a Community of Practice, knowledge partnerships and advocacy.
