Introducing Thematic Networking at IICD

Thematic networks, or communities of practice, are the key way in which sector specific lessons, news and ideas are shared and disseminated across the countries where IICD is working.

Each is a partnership of IICD and a few organisations with specialist expertise. Working with existing networks - or forming something new when it is needed - each network supports our local partners by bringing expertise and knowledge to them; and by providing a platform where their experiences can be shared more widely. They also serve as a way to more generally mobilise and disseminate information on ICT-enabled development.

Participants of the itrainers community of practiceThe networks have two main functions. First, they serve as a 'connecting' mechanism, linking people together to more effectively generate and share the knowledge they have. Second, they provide a 'collecting' facility, allowing people to upload and download different types of information resources useful to their work.
