For a Country Programme to be implemented IICD needs to be
developing ICT programmes in at least two of the "traditional"
development sectors. In most cases this involves an initial "National
ICT Roundtable" in order to identify demand within the country. This is
followed by a "Sector Roundtable" with key stakeholders within a
specific sector - stakeholders from government, non-government, the
private sector and civil society. From here, project's are identified
which can be taken into formulation.
Currently, IICD is supporting over 130 ICT projects
in the five sectors of Education, Governance, Health,
Livelihoods and Environment.

IICD in the Health Sector
IICD’s health projects are principally aimed at improving the health
of populations in small urban centres and remote rural areas through
ICT.
IICD’s education projects focus on enhancing the competencies of the
teacher, improving the quality of learning materials, developing young
people’s learning skills and an overall improvement of the learning
process, through ICT.
IICD’s Livelihoods projects are predominantly agricultural
livelihoods projects and aim to improve the income of small-scale
farmers and improve levels of efficiency in the agricultural sector,
using ICT.
Working with local governmental and non-governmental partners, our
support is aimed at improving the ability of national and local
government to deliver services, while at the same time working with
civil society and grassroots organisations to help strengthen community
participation in the public sphere.
Producing enough food on the existing cultivable land requires
sustainable management practices, which in turn benefit greatly from
investment in and access to ICT.
