On Thursday 26 April 2007, IICD and Hivos extended their partnership for a period of four years. Creating practical and sustainable solutions in developing countries that connect people and enable them to benefit from ICT is the goal of IICD and is one of the main themes for Hivos.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Focus Group meeting, held on 18 December 2006, gave participants the opportunity to reflect on the past year, and make recommendation for 2007. The Focus Group reflected on IICD-supported ICT and agriculture projects in Burkina Faso. The results of their meeting are summarised here.

Six to eight weeks after a Round Table workshop, IICD's training partners in Africa or Latin America take participants through the 'Life-Long Learning' intensive short course. The training helps make sense of some of these questions and assists participants to further formulate their ideas into viable plans.

Limited access to information concerning water hygiene has resulted in regular hygienic and sanitary crises in the region of Bokin, Burkina Faso. To tackle this problem, Sahel Solidarité invented an innovative way to increase awareness on hygienic water use.
