The eFresh portal is a platform that brings producers and buyers of fresh agricultural produce into contact with each other. The suscriptions are combined with support in PR activities. Under the Schokland Agreement, the ‘Accessing New Markets for Small Poor Farmers: an Innovative Approach’ programme will give 50.000 poor farmers the opportunity not only to improve their efficiency and competitiveness but also to access new markets, using e-commerce through the eFresh on-line market information platform. It will contribute in an innovative way to reach MDG’s 1 & 8. In Bolivia, the National Coordinating partner will be Promueve Bolivia.

After problems with the GET Foundation, the project partner, IICD has decided not to implement this project. Promueve Bolivia has been informed about this.

Access to new markets, export in particular, is vital for strengthening farmers' associations, which are often hindered in their expansion by the limitations of low demand at the local or regional markets.

To provide Bolivian smallholder associations and cooperatives with efficient access to the world market of fresh agricultural produce by means of the eFresh portal facilitating transactions between producers and buyers.

It is expected that export volumes will increase and that product quality and presentation will improve as a result of this project. Apart from the eFresh portal acting as an intermediary in sales of Bolivian fresh agriculural products, Bolivian producer organisations are trained in the proper presentation of products on the European market, taking trade regulations and other requirements into account. Also, they learn how to set up PR campaigns.
