Hospitals in Northern Ghana increase efficiency with health information system
- Three hospitals in the towns of Saboba, Wiaga and Bawku in Northern Ghana, are setting up an upgraded health information system, customised to fit their specific needs. The system can help to increase the hospitals efficiency giving more insight into patients registrations, help to more easily keep track of pharmacy stock and more.

- IICD's recommendations about using ICT for sustainable development, presented to the national platform Rio+20. This platform is set up as a preparation for the UN conference on sustainable development. This event will be held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012.

Ugandan Organisation Combats Child Mortality with Text Messages
- The IICD-supported Ugandan organisation Health Child battles child mortality by sending mothers text messages with information about prenatal care, care after birth and reminders about their antenatal schedules at health facilities. This approach also reduces the amount of children born with HIV-AIDS.

Mothers in Mali Battle against Malaria with Mobile Phones
- A group of mothers who work as community health workers in poor neighbourhoods in the capital city of Bamako, Mali are going to use mobile phones to prevent, diagnose and treat malaria in a more effective way.

Tanzanian Health Institutions Plan Implementation of Digital Health System
- Representatives of various Tanzanian health institutions are planning to implement an integrated health system (‘eHealth package’). The system consists of several software packages that allow hospitals to generate patient data, control finance, perform distance diagnosis and more.

Tanzanian Health Worker Uses Mobile for Distance Diagnosis in Remote Areas
- Clinical officer Silverius Kesanta uses his mobile phone to take pictures and notes of patients in remote areas of Tanzania and shares this information online with specialists from Dar es Salaam and abroad. Specialists view the information and provide advice so Kesanta can treat these patients himself.
