In Tanzania, Mali, Zambia and Uganda information systems are being introduced in hospitals in the form of health management information systems. But with a lack of relevant research done in these countries about the introduction of technologies like information systems there is not much to go by. The eSociety programme was launched in Apac District, Northern Uganda earlier this year as the result of a joint effort by IICD, HIVOS, and several local stakeholders including civil society organisations, local government bodies and representatives of the private sector. The overall aim is to boost service delivery and community participation by improving collaboration between local government, the private sector and civil society.
