Working with War Child to apply ICTs in governance in war affected districts

News

May 01 2010, Uganda [UG], Governance

Since the end of 2006 IICD is cooperating with War Child to formulate and (partly) implement a pilot project of nine months in a series of activities. The project “ICT in governance in war affected districts” covers three districts in Northern Uganda: Gulu, Kitgum and Lira.

War Child Netherlands  invests in the peaceful future of children affected by war. In order to create a peaceful environment for children, War Child’s activities extend into the sectors of psycho-social wellbeing, education, governance and advocacy for child rights.

The role of IICD is to advice and guide the process of project formulation and to set up a system for a proper implementation of the project. In this set up War Child Uganda and the Ugandan National ICT4D network I-network (supported by IICD) play a pivotal role. In 2007 the project was formulated and implemented.
