PSO and IICD: building capacities in innovative projects
Mar 23 2007, Zambia [ZM], Bolivia [BO], Ecuador [EC], Mali [ML]
IICD has a longstanding relationship with PSO, which evolved from funding of projects to a true partnership based on added values of both organisations.
In this partnership IICD brings in its knowledge about ICT4D, whereas PSO brings in its knowledge about capacity development.
In 2007 IICD cooperated at several levels, namely capacity development in a number of our projects and knowledge sharing activities in Ecuador and Zambia.
PSO and IICD are also cooperating in two so-called innovation projects. These projects should bring forward the development of innovative aspects in capacity development within these innovation projects.
The first project is about the ICTs and gender which until 2007 was a rather unexplored theme for IICD. In this project PSO is supporting gender aspects in the Women’s Information Development Network (WIDNet) in Zambia, Escuela de fortalecimiento de la gestión local de las mujeres líderes de Ecuador (School for strengthening skills in local management by rural women leaders) in Ecuador and Las TIC y el Fortalecimiento de Capacidades de Mujeres Líderes indígenas de Tierras Bajas de Bolivia (ICT and the empowerment of capacities of female indigenous leaders in the low lands of Bolivia).
The second innovation project is about ICTs in health in Mali. PSO supports the Establishment of an e-Health Technology Centre (CNRAES) project for capacity development in Mali. In 2007 IICD made also a start with the formulation of a so-called Learning – Work Trajectory which defines aspects of capacity development which IICD can learn about. The Learn – Work Trajectory hinges around the development of indicators for capacity development of partner organisations. In the methodology IICD has mainly focussed on indicators for the end-users.
The last component in which PSO and IICD cooperates is on knowledge sharing in the e-collaboration workgroup. This virtual platform is mainly meant to exchange knowledge about e-learning, which also resulted in the publication I collaborate, e-collaborate, we collaborate on what kind of ICT tools can be used for what kind of purpose.
