Prestigious Award Nomination for Company Altran and Its Work with IICD
Jun 29 2009, Netherlands [NL]
One of IICD’s private partners, Altran has been nominated as Information Technology company with the best corporate social responsibility programme. This nomination is an acknowledgement for the work they do with IICD in Tanzania and Zambia.
The Computable Awards take place every year and is one of the most prestigious Dutch awards that can be won by IT-companies. Altran is not just an IT consulting company but a leader in innovation consultancy. The reason why Altran is mainly on the shortlist of nominations is because the company invests its employee’s time in IICD-supported projects by giving training and advisory services on practical ICT solutions.’Altran advised in Zambia with the setting up of a digital information system for blood donors . Altran also assisted in Tanzania with the installation of a mobile network that helps farmers to exchange information in a better way with potential buyers.
The award nomination is the proof that Altran’s corporate social responsibility programme works and that many projects in Africa bare the fruits of Altran’s advise. The Altran employees themselves have also gained valuable knowledge by working in Africa. They are now more aware of a a world they wouldn’t normally go to in their regular line of work. Employees get the chance to use their expertise and knowledge in a completely different setting, where out-of-the-box thinking is crucial. Altran will continue to work with IICD in the future. In the third and fourth quarter of 2009, various consultants will be working from the Netherlands, together with IICD, on the latest energy-efficient and low-cost IT solutions as well as renewable energy solutions.
There are four other IT-companies nominated, including the Dutch division of software company IBM. The winner will be announced in the Computable Award show in Grand Hotel Krasnapolski in Amsterdam on October 14. Votes can be casted on http://www2.computable.nl/computableawards/stem/ until September 25.
