Online forum strengthens Burkina Faso’s network of telecentres

by admin last modified 2007-06-25 18:02
Country: Burkina Faso [BF]

The community of telecentres in Burkina Faso, in collaboration with the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD), has created a discussion list. This online forum, which was established on the Dgroups platform, is intended to foster and promote discussion among managers, staff, users and other stakeholders in community telecentres, often known as community cybercentres, community multimedia centres or public ICT centres.

The list was created in response to a January 2006 meeting in Ouagadougou at which a number of these stakeholders noted the lack of such a framework for discussion. The aim is to provide a permanent online forum for discussions and mutual support among these stakeholders. The discussion group will address current topics related to the management and activities of community cybercentres and telecentres, such as connectivity, the sustainability of these centres, computer crime and any other topics of interest to this community.
