Dec 21 2009
IICD is welcoming two new members on its Board of Trustees. As of 1 January 2010 Jozias van Aartsen, mayor of The Hague, will succeed Mrs. Hella Voûte-Droste in the position of chairperson of the Board. At the same time Mr. Jalbert Kuijper, founder and managing director of Xeed and former Lost Boys director will succeed Bernhard van Oranje, founder of Levi9 Global Sourcing, as member of the Board.
Both new members have an impressive career, albeit in two completely different sectors. Mr. Jozias van Aartsen (1947), member of the Liberal Party (VVD) has a longstanding career in politics. Between 1998 and 2006, after a long career within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he was first appointed as Minister of Agriculture, in 1998 as Minister of Foreign Affairs and from 2002 until 2006 he was the parliamentary leader of the Liberal Party in the Dutch House of Representatives. In 2008 he was appointed mayor of The Hague, which he still is today. Mr. Jozias van Aartsen fulfils several activities in the sideline. Next to becoming Chairperson for IICD he is among others Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NICIS Institute and member of the Board of Trustees of the Montesquieu Foundation. Mr. van Aartsen supports smart alliances such as the consortium Connect4Change of which IICD is a member. This raises opportunities to share knowledge and innovation that contribute to development goals, and a chance to make a difference.
Jalbert Kuijper (1969) is an entrepreneur pur sang. After first having fulfilled several marketing and management positions in the IT-sector, he started his first private company in 2000. INPACT rapidly became one of the fastest growing marketing companies and was taken over by Lost Boys in 2005. Kuijper, now managing director of Xeed, invests and participates in several other companies too. He is also very active within politics, various entrepreneurial clubs and actively involved in Dance4Life.
Mr. Jozias van Aartsen succeeds Mrs Hella Voûte-Droste. She has been in the position of Chairperson of the Board of Trustees since December 2005 after first having been a Board member for nearly two years. Mr. Jalbert Kuijper succeeds Mr. Bernhard van Oranje, who will also step down after having been on the Board of Trustees for nearly ten years. Both Mr. van Aartsen and Mr. Kuijper will take up their new position as of 1 January 2010.
