In line with continual efforts to learn and develop as an organisation, this year IICD applied for and achieved ISO certification.

ISO-certificateAwarded on July 20th 2007, IICD has joined the ISO quality certification agreement in order to help improve quality processes and become more transparent in its operations. The improvements are aimed at the entire organisation, including the processes of monitoring and evaluation, capacity development, and national ICT for development networks, as well as the supporting processes of partnerships, finance and human resources. Further transparency will also help IICD to improve the quality of the information it makes available.

The Swiss-based International Organization for Standardization (ISO), set up in 1947, is an internationally recognised body made up of various national standards organizations across the globe. Membership is voluntary, and as a non-governmental institution, ISO has no legal authority to enforce its standards. Many organisations have sought certification through increasing global health, safety, and environmental concerns as well as for the provision of an international framework of compatible technology. IICD chose ISO due to its international presence, and will maintain the certification to ensure continuous, quality improvement throughout the organisation.
