Introducing ICT into Tanzania’s education sector: some lessons learned

Online training modules for Teacher Training Colleges, photocopies and print-outs of text books for schools in remote areas, chat rooms and online debates in key-Swahili for secondary school students: these are just some of the many ways in which ICT is being used in Tanzania to enhance the education sector across the board. With the full support of the Ministry of Education, IICD and its local partners have worked steadfastly for the last nine years in Tanzania to find innovative, cost-effective ways in which ICT can have a sustainable, far-reaching impact on the education sector. Some useful lessons have been learned along the way.
