IICD Annual Report 2005

by admin last modified 2006-08-11 12:07

This report provides an overview of the ICT initiatives carried out in IICD’s nine Country Programmes as well as highlights from its other programmes.

Mr Stephen Dagada, co-initiator of the DistrictNet project in Uganda Throughout 2005, partnerships continued to play a central role in all of IICD’s activities. Indeed, IICD could not have carried out its work without the commitment and support of its partners; from its local partners on the ground, to likeminded organisations in the development sector, to its private and public sector partners.

The year 2005 was especially significant for IICD as it marked the beginning of its new strategy for 2006-2010. During this phase, the Institute will share the lessons it has learned with the international community and develop new partnerships. Given the scope of the Institute’s activities, there is a great deal to share. Today, over 2,500,000 end-users are benefiting from ICT activities developed with support of IICD. Indeed, many people have prospered economically as a direct result of taking part in these activities and have also reported feeling a sense of empowerment.
