Monitoring and Evaluation for learning - IICD’s experience

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is high on the agenda of many
development organisations, including that of the International Institute for
Communication and Development (IICD). Where most NGOs introduced
M&E as a tool for measuring results in order to prove their accountability,
IICD initiated M&E for the purpose of learning. This article describes the
added value of M&E for the purpose of learning, how to organise it yourself
and the lessons learned by IICD.
