IICD Receives 20,000 Euro Donation From ‘CharITy’
Mar 04 2010, Netherlands [NL]
IICD received a cheque worth 20,000 Euros during the 2010 CIO dinner in the Netherlands on March 2. The funds were raised by CharITy, whose chairman Jan Boll presented the cheque to IICD’s Managing Director Caroline Figuères at the dinner. The funds will help youth at IICD-supported education projects.
International organisation War Child that works across the world to help children affected by war, received a similar cheque. In his speech, War Child’s Executive Director Mark Vogt stressed the importance of ICT and media for development and stated that Warchild has also benefited from IICD’s experience and expertise.
The aim of CharITy is to increase corporate social responsibility activities at Dutch and international IT companies and IT departments at companies. The auction which was used to raise the funds for IICD and War Child was organised by CharITy and took place during CIO Day 2009 in The Netherlands. On this day, IT directors from both Dutch and international companies came together to meet their peers and discuss current trends in their line of work. An auction for one or more good causes always marks the start of this event.
