Teachers and students from several educational facilities in Ghana’s Northern Region came together in Tamale for an educational ICT forum. At the forum they shared their ideas on Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The event was co-funded by IICD.

Ghanaian Teachers Discuss Computer Use at ICT Forum

The teachers' forum was the very first of its kind in Tamale.

A group of thirty teachers and a selected group of students shared success stories and some of the issues. One of the things that came up during the meeting is that it is hard to find qualified tutors to teach ICT in primary schools.

The forum was the very first of its kind in Tamale. It was inspired by a teachers' forum held in Zambia during the international e-Learning Africa conference. This forum was co-organised by IICD. There, teachers from different African countries shared their ideas about ICT. The organiser of the teachers' ICT forum in Ghana was also present at this event. He was so enthousiastic that he decided to organise a similar event in Ghana. The forum will be followed up by training workshops for teachers in the Northern Region.

A video impression of the teachers forum in Tamale can be found on YouTube. A more detailed description can be read in the blog of Ghanaian journalist Joseph Ziem.
