IICD to Organise Fill The Gap

News

Feb 23 2012, Netherlands [NL]

Dutch NGOs IICD and Hivos proudly present Fill the Gap. This annual debating and networking event will take place on April 20 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This year's theme is 'moving beyond the mobile hype'

A wide range of national and international mobile experts will provide a realistic insight and discuss what five years of experimenting with mobile devices actually brought. Which expectations have been met and which ones haven't? And: why is it so hard for the private sector and aid agencies to upscale, develop and market affordable mobile solutions that benefit the common man in developing countries?

Main speaker at the event is Jonathan Gosier, founder of East African software development company Appfrica. Gosier is also co-founder of data visualisation program metaLayer and worked with the open-source disaster response organisation Ushahidi. Gosier was a speaker at a TED Global event in Oxford. Other speakers include Danielle Puma (Vodafone Foundation Netherlands) and Jeroen Verplanke (University of Twente).

'Fill the Gap! 9: Moving beyond the mobile hype' takes place in NEMO in Amsterdam, April 20. Doors open at 2 pm (CET). After the event, there will be drinks. The event is free for everyone. Click here to register or go to www.fill-the-gap.nl for more info.
