A series of cartoons about using information and communication technologies are used in Burkina Faso to inform people in a funny way about computers and the internet. The hand painted cartoons were commissioned by Burkina Faso’s national ICT4D network Burkina NTIC, which is supported by IICD.

The cartoons show various traditional Burkinabe settings with a technology component added. For instance one cartoon shows a woman visiting a psychic to ask him if her husband still loves her. The fortune teller has a computer next to him and says: “No worries madam, my computer knows everything.”

Another cartoon is called ‘watch out for computer viruses’ and shows a traditional healer trying to cure the computer with some of his instruments while saying: “my counter spell is stronger than you!”

Burkina NTIC shared the cartoons through various social media platforms such as NING.

The cartoons are painted by Rasmané Kabré, a painter from Ouagadougou. He
was also featured on ‘TV Wagues’, an online video channel created by Yam Pukri, the coordinator of Burkina’s National ICT4D Network.
