Bolivian Government Releases IICD-supported CD-ROMs on Indigenous Culture
Mar 23 2010, Bolivia [BO], Education
The Bolivian Ministry of Education has released a series of five CD-ROMs produced by IICD project partner APCOB in Bolivia. The CD-ROMs inform secondary school students, university students, teachers and a broader audience about Bolivia’s indigenous cultures.
The CD-ROMs consist of text, testimonies and videos about the lives of indigenous Bolivians. The information focuses on five different indigenous groups: the Ayoréode, the Chiquitanos, the Isoseño-Guaraniés, the Gwarayos and the Mbia-Sirionos.
The discs are developed by an interdisciplinary team of technical, anthropologic and pedagogic experts and in collaboration with a group of teachers and students. They are a result of a project that started in 2001 with the idea to preserve and document books, photographs and video materials on indigenous people collected by APCOB since the 1950s.
APCOB (Apoyo para el Campesino Indígena del Oriente Boliviano) is an organisation that supports indigenous farmers in Eastern Bolivia.
