IICD celebrates its tenth anniversary

Ten years ago, in November 1996, the former Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation, Jan Pronk, founded the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) to assist partners in the South to overcome the digital divide.
Together with its public, private and not-for-profit partners from
the North and South, IICD has gained during the past decade a lot of
experience in using modern information and communication technologies
such as Internet, email, radio, multimedia and mobile telephone
solutions to create practical and sustainable solutions for
development.
These experiences have been captured in a photo anniversary booklet
that shows what has been achieved over the years and how.
The booklet was launched at a networking event on Public-Private Partnerships and ICT, Fill the Gap!, which took place in The Netherlands on November 30, 2006. Mr. Jan van den Herik, director of the network on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Stichting Samenleving & Bedrijf, received the first copy from IICD’s Managing Director, Jac Stienen.
