Building ICT skills among Tanzanian educators
Jan 21 2003, Tanzania [TZ], Education
In December, Joyous Computer in Mbagala, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania hosted a training workshop for teachers involved with the Global Teenager Project in Tanzania.
The workshop format was interactive, an emphasis on hands-on sessions. IICD’s Capacity Development Program provided CDs with different training materials, software and other resources, which will enable participants to carry out ongoing skills development in their workplaces.
The training workshop was followed by discussions with the GTP Country Coordinator for Tanzania regarding the establishment of a local Learning Circle in Tanzania, starting with the schools within the GTP and then expanding to other schools in the country. The content of the Learning Circles will be linked to the existing curriculum of Tanzania’s school system. The Country Coordinator will follow up the initiative by meeting the headmasters of GTP schools.
