Introducing Knowledge Sharing
IICD promotes national, international and online knowledge sharing that stimulates sustainable ICT-enabled development. Through successful knowledge sharing IICD is able to improve its own impact and promote awareness of the efficacy of ICT as a development tool. The collection and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned is an important process in IICD's role as a knowledge broker. Our main activities include:
- Local networks of information partners in the countries where we work.
- Thematic networking through communities of practice involving local and international partners and exchanging knowledge and ideas on the applications of ICT in specific sectors or themes.
- iConnect - shared web spaces about ICT and knowledge applications in development. These bring together people, information and ideas in the field of ICT for development.
- Research focussed around our country and sectoral priorities. These help to build the knowledge base on ICT in development and contribute to our learning.
- The Global Teenager project, linking secondary schools in global 'learning circles' and fostering the creation of local schools networks.
- ICT Stories that seek to capture the learning process accompanying the introduction and implementation of ICT for development.
- Workshops organised by IICD are listed in a shared calendar of events.
