Expert Workshop on the Capability Approach Held at IICD’s Office

News

Jul 25 2011, Netherlands [NL]

IICD, the 3TU Centre for Ethics and Technology and the UNESCO Chair/Centre in ICT4D at Royal Holloway are jointly organising a specialist forum about ICT4D and the Capability Approach on September 5. This is a pre-event to the 2011 Human Development and Capabilities Association Conference, held in the Hague.

This will be a specialist forum in which participants can work in an informal atmosphere, but at a focused level, i.e. everybody attending should be familiar with the Capability Approach and some of the key ways it has been applied to ICT4D.

Key interest is to explore, in an interactive workshop format, what has been achieved in this area by practitioners and academics, and to explore remaining challenges and research frontiers.

The workshop is supported by the HDCA Thematic Group on Technology and Design. More info can be found on the website of the 3TU Centre for Ethics and Technology.

Space limitations mean places for the workshop are capped, so people are encouraged to sign up quickly, preferably before August 5th. If you are interested in participating, please send an e-mail to Dorothea Kleine (Dorothea.Kleine(at)rhul.ac.uk). Please include a short paragraph (up to 100 words) about your connection to the topic of this workshop (background, experience, expectations, nagging questions - whatever you think is relevant).
