Maternal and child health risks in Sub-Saharan Africa can be more efficiently mapped and responded to by using ICTs. The Ma Santé programme successfully introduced mobile phones and an app to collect and share data between Community Health Worker’s (CHWs) and health centres in Mali.
On December 1 the world will mark World AIDS Day with a series of events and initiatives to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. Based in Ghana, last year’s World of Difference team has developed a mobile communication strategy to mark the day and to “inform adolescents in a fun and interactive way about their sexuality” and encourage openness in discussing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
On Friday 22nd November, the winners of this year’s World of Difference project were selected. The awards ceremony proved to be a spectacular finale to this year’s competition. The four World of Difference winners will soon fly to Kenya to begin their new jobs and help assist local partners in their use of ICTs to fight against Aids and HIV.
